Austin Community College (ACC) recently partnered with Hackney Community College in the London borough of Hackney to offer students the opportunity to work on an innovative project with an international partner. The Millennial Mentoring project engaged seven students from Hackney and six from ACC to brainstorm marketing and digital solutions to challenges presented by three sponsoring business clients: Adobe Systems, British Airways and Austin-based RetailMeNot, Inc. Each team focused on a global challenge: how to market effectively to the millennial generation.

Since beginning work on their projects in January, the students have worked closely with their clients, who also serve as mentors. The goal of Millennial Mentoring is to highlight the value and talent that young people bring to businesses in today’s global digital economy. The international partnership is a continuation of ACC’s efforts to expand global learning opportunities for its students and faculty. The students presented their recommendations during the SXSW Interactive Festival, where the reports were judged by a panel of industry experts.
