The Westlake High School girls swim team took home the UIL 5A State title February 22, edging out Southlake Carroll by just one point for the victory. This marks the third state championship for the Westlake girls swim team since 2007.

 

Freshman swimmer Victoria Edwards had a stellar performance in her events, helping the team to earn its first place finish. Edwards, along with fellow freshmen Catriona MacGregor and Maggie Taylor and senior Alyssa Woltermath won the gold in the 200-meter relay. Edwards also won gold the 200-meter butterfly as well as the silver in the 100-meter backstroke.

 

In the 200-meter freestyle relay, Bryanna Hundt, Taylor, Mina Glenesk and Catriona MacGregor swam to the bronze medal, finishing less than 20-hundredths of a second behind first and second place schools Humble Atasocita and Keller.
